FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Booking and Planning

How far in advance should we book?
For the best availability, particularly during peak travel seasons, we recommend booking several weeks to months in advance. As we offer exclusively private tours and work with a select team of guides, availability can fill quickly.

Last-minute requests are sometimes possible, and we are always happy to check for you.

How long can you hold a reservation without payment?
Once you have received your provisional itinerary and a guide has been reserved, we are able to hold the booking until the evening of the following day. After that time, the reservation will be released unless payment has been received.

Can we leave the tour time flexible in case our plans change?
As your guide is reserved exclusively for your scheduled time, we are not able to leave reservations open-ended. A confirmed start time is required in order to secure your experience.

Do you offer customized or tailor-made tours?
Yes. All of our tours are private and thoughtfully tailored to your interests, pace, and areas of focus. We would be delighted to design a personalized experience for you.

Can we focus more on World War II history, contemporary Jewish life, or family heritage?
Yes. We are always happy to adapt the emphasis of the tour based on your particular interests, whether that is the rescue of Danish Jews during World War II, present-day Jewish life in Copenhagen, or locations connected to family heritage.

Simply let us know your preferences in advance, and we will tailor the experience accordingly.

Pricing and Payment

Are tickets included in the tour price?
Ticket inclusion depends on the tour:

  • On our 3-hour tour with the Jewish Museum and our 3-hour tour with the Resistance Museum, tickets are not included.
  • All Rescue tours include two tickets.
  • On our Jewish, Castle and Canal tour, tickets are not included.

We are always happy to assist with arranging additional tickets if needed.

We are only one or two people. Is the price reduced?
Our pricing reflects the private nature of the experience.

  • Walking tours are priced the same for 1 to 6 participants.
  • Driving tours are priced the same for 1 to 2 participants.

For larger groups:

  • Additional participants on standard walking tours are priced at 40 USD per person.
  • Additional participants on Rescue tours are priced at 50 USD per person.

Please feel free to share your group size, and we will gladly confirm the exact pricing.

We are several people in the group. Can we pay separately?
To confirm the reservation, payment must be made in full using one credit card.

Can you hold my credit card instead of charging the full amount?
In order to secure your guide and confirm your booking, full payment is required at the time of reservation.

How do I pay?
You will receive a secure payment link where you may pay by credit card, subject to a 2.95 percent transaction fee.

For guests booking multiple tours, payment by invoice is available without a transaction fee.

What is your cancellation policy?

  • 6 days or fewer before the tour: non-refundable
  • 7 to 15 days before the tour: 50 percent refundable
  • 16 to 24 days before the tour: 75 percent refundable
  • 25 days or more before the tour: fully refundable

Tours operate in all weather conditions. We recommend comprehensive travel insurance for your peace of mind.

The Tour Experience

What languages are your tours offered in?
Our tours are conducted in English, Hebrew, German, French and Spanish. Other languages may be arranged upon request, subject to guide availability.

How much walking is involved?
Our walking tours move at a relaxed pace through central Copenhagen. Approximate distances are:

  • 90-minute walking tour: approximately 800 meters
  • 3-hour Jewish walking tours: approximately 1.8 kilometers
  • Rescue tour: approximately 1 kilometer

There are opportunities to sit throughout the experience, including inside the Great Synagogue and at the Jewish Museum while hearing the stories connected to each site. During the walking portions, we are also happy to pause at benches along the route as needed.

If you prefer a more relaxed experience with minimal walking, we recommend one of our full driving tours.

Are your tours suitable for children?
Yes. When we know in advance that children will be joining, we thoughtfully adapt the content and pacing.

Whenever possible, we will match your family with one of our guides who is especially experienced in presenting the tour in an engaging and accessible way for younger guests, including several of our retired teachers.

What should we wear?
We recommend comfortable walking shoes and dressing according to the Danish weather. Copenhagen weather can change quickly, so layered clothing is often advisable.

When visiting the synagogue during Shabbat services, please note that this is an Orthodox synagogue. Dress should be respectful and modest, though it does not need to be formal.

If it is raining, can we reschedule?
Danish weather can be unpredictable. As your guide is reserved exclusively for your scheduled time, tours proceed in rain or cold weather.

We recommend dressing appropriately for the forecast, and we will ensure a meaningful and comfortable experience regardless of the conditions.

Is a lunch stop included in the tour?
Due to the richness of the program, a lunch stop is not included within the standard timeframe.

However, a one-hour lunch break may be added to most tours:

  • Walking tours: 100 USD
  • Driving tours: 250 USD

Lunch is at your own expense.

Synagogue and Museums

Is an interior visit to the synagogue included?

Yes, subject to synagogue opening hours.

Interior visits are generally possible:

  • Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM
  • Saturday before 11:30 AM

Visits outside these hours may be arranged for an additional fee, subject to availability and security approval.

Can I enter the synagogue on my own?
Due to security regulations, independent entry to the Copenhagen Synagogue is not possible.

If you wish to attend Shabbat services, we are able to arrange this in conjunction with one of our tours, subject to advance coordination and approval.

I am only available when the synagogue is closed. What are the options?
We are still able to conduct a meaningful and enriching tour. While the interior would not be accessible, your guide will share the synagogue’s history and significance from outside the gates, offering context and powerful stories connected to the site.

I am only available when the Jewish Museum is closed. What are the options?
In some cases, it is possible to arrange a private opening of the Jewish Museum for an additional fee of 100 USD, provided sufficient advance notice.

If this is not possible, we may recommend replacing the museum visit with the Resistance Museum or a broader Copenhagen highlights experience.

Tickets are not included in my tour. How should I purchase them?

You may:

  • Ask us to purchase the tickets on your behalf. Our guide will handle everything on the day.
  • Purchase tickets directly through the museum’s website in advance.

We do not recommend purchasing tickets at the door during the tour, as this may reduce time spent on the experience itself.

Logistics

Can you pick us up at our hotel or cruise ship?

Rescue 3 includes hotel pickup as standard. All other tours begin at the Great Synagogue.

We are happy to arrange hotel pickup for an additional fee:

  • Walking tours: 50 USD
  • Driving tours: 125 USD

Please let us know in advance if you would like to include this option.

Can we join an existing tour?
We exclusively offer private tours. As such, we do not combine groups or offer shared experiences.

Are tips or gratuities expected?
Gratuities are neither required nor expected, though they are always appreciated by our guides.

Should you wish to leave a gratuity, a typical amount is 10 to 12 percent. You are of course welcome to give whatever feels appropriate based on your experience.

Can I request a specific guide?
You are very welcome to request a specific guide, and we will always do our best to accommodate your preference. All guide assignments are subject to availability, and while we strive for consistency, we cannot guarantee a specific guide.
